• JAKE PEARLMAN

    FOUNDER - COLLEGE FRESHMAN

Hello, I'm Jake. I'm a freshman at the University of Michigan, majoring in Statistics. That path traces back to a summer program I did at Wharton, where I discovered a love for sports analytics and started an MHS club for people who share the interest. Now I'm excited to dig even deeper into it as I start a new chapter at college. I love a good challenge, whether it's AP Physics, climbing the Rockies or crushing my competition in FIFA, I'm up for it. I'm the founder and lead tutor at Montclair Tutors, and after five years of helping students find strategies that actually work for them, I keep coming back to it because I love seeing that "it clicked" moment. I'm easygoing and patient, and I know how to make one-on-one tutoring feel like a fun activity rather than a chore for younger students. I'm a sports fanatic and a die-hard Giants fan, but I'll still tutor fans of any team except the Cowboys (kidding…mostly). In my free time, I like hanging out with friends, playing tennis, boxing, skiing, hiking, and watching stand-up comedy.

  • DEVIN ARCHER

    MHS SENIOR

Hi! My name is Devin, and I’m a senior at Montclair High School. My favorite subjects are history and science (especially physics)! I’m passionate about STEM and founded the Women in Engineering Club at my school, where we build rockets to compete in the American Rocketry Challenge. I’ve been tutoring for 5 years and love helping others discover that learning can be fun and rewarding. My experience has shown me how to develop strategies that make challenging subjects feel a little easier. Outside of tutoring and rocketry, I’m a member of the robotics team, a fencer, and the owner of a clothing resale business. In my free time, I love baking, hanging out with friends, building lego sets, and listening to music. I know how stressful it can be to balance schoolwork with everything else going on, and I’m excited to help make that balance a little easier!

  • QUINN FECHNER

    MHS SENIOR

Hi! I'm Quinn, and I am a senior at Montclair High School. My favorite subjects are math and science, and I'm also interested in engineering, which I discovered when I rode my first roller coaster on a band field trip in middle school. I am now a roller coaster enthusiast, and I aspire to be a theme park engineer someday, using my passion for math and science to bring joy and excitement to others. As a tutor, I'll do whatever it takes to help a kid succeed and minimize their stress. Over the summer, I attended an engineering and business program at Stevens University, co-led a STEM camp for grades 3-7, and worked as a counselor at a karate camp. At school, I'm CAD lead on the robotics team, a member of the fencing team and marching band, and president of the physics club. Outside of school, I play guitar and saxophone, make props and gadgets with my 3D printer, and practice karate at the dojo I've belonged to since age 3.

  • PALOMA DE LA PENA

    MHS SENIOR

Hi, my name is Paloma and I'm currently a senior at Montclair High School! My academic strengths lie in math, science, history, Spanish, and art, making me a well-rounded student. I've volunteered with the MFEE as a bilingual tutor for over 4 years, teaching math and English to immigrant students from Latin America, and I also help my Colombian grandmother navigate new technology. Being well-rounded has helped me become a better tutor, since I've learned to adapt to each student's unique interests and learning habits, whether they're 5 years old or 87. I'm patient, a great listener, and I love questions (there's no such thing as a stupid one!). Above all, I want my students to walk away with confidence and understanding in their subject matter. Outside of academics, I love driving (especially stick-shift), spending time in nature, and dancing!

  • HENRY DODD

    MHS SENIOR

Hi, I’m Henry! My favorite subjects are math, science, and history, and I’ve always loved a good challenge. I enjoy helping other students build confidence and understand difficult concepts by turning learning into a fun problem-solving or code-cracking activity rather than a chore. I want students to be able to figure out problems for themselves while I’m there to guide them. Outside of school, I run track, compete in the Wharton Investment Competition, and enjoy learning about business, finance, and investing. I’m also a huge sports fan and love watching football and soccer, playing fantasy football, listening to music, and spending time with friends. I’m easygoing, patient, and excited to help students not only improve their skills, but also become more confident and enjoy the process of learning!

    MHS SENIOR

Hi, I’m Kingston and I am going into my senior year at Montclair High School. My favorite subjects are math and English but I especially enjoy classes related to economics. For the past 4 years I have worked with Succeed2gether tutoring kids in need. I love helping out and building connections with the kids I work with because I believe that a student needs to trust their tutor in order for them to get the most out of the session. I love to play and watch almost all sports, but soccer has always been my main focus. I play goalkeeper for my high school and my favorite team is Liverpool. Go Reds! In my free time I’m either playing soccer, hanging out with friends, or watching whatever game is on at the moment.

Hi, I'm Ellie! I'm a senior at MHS. My favorite subject is Chemistry and I want to study medicine, but I'm also a member of the Civics and Government Institute and love English and History. I'm the co-founder and VP of MHS Succeed2gether, a club supporting the S2G tutoring organization, and I've been tutoring with Succeed2gether and privately for 5 years. I'm also an assistant Hebrew teacher at my synagogue, where I have 6 years of tutoring and mentoring experience. Outside of tutoring, I'm the MHS varsity soccer goalie and play club soccer year-round. I also work in a speech-language pathology lab, participate in a TILC fellowship, serve as a Comfort Project 360 board member, and volunteer with TopSoccer. This summer I worked as a sleepaway camp counselor at Camp Walden in NY, giving me extensive experience working with kids and adults of all ages. • HOOD QAIM-MAQAMI

    COLLEGE FRESHMAN

Hi, my name is Hood. As a recent graduate at MHS, I’m excited for my next chapter at Boston University. I'm a committed student and I'm most interested in computer science (with a focus on cybersecurity), mathematics, and writing. Over the summer, I participated in the Weston Science Scholars program, studying Marine Biology and trying to learn how to stop invasive species. Due to my passion for these subjects, I'm able to provide guidance and make difficult concepts more enjoyable to learn. I've been described as patient and approachable, and I really try to discover a student's unique learning preferences so I can bring out their best. When I'm not in class, you can find me at practice with the high school rowing team or getting in my reps at the YMCA. I also love listening to music, playing chess, and doing my best to give back to the community.
